Grilled Chipotle Chicken

Made with Southern Drawl Chipotle Hot Sauce.

Tender, juicy chicken marinated in smoky chipotle heat and grilled to perfection. Perfect for weeknight dinners, meal prep, or your next cookout. Smoky. Spicy. Unforgettable. Bold heat. Smoky depth. Southern soul.

Ingredients

Serves 4

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or thighs)

Chipotle Marinade

  • 1/3 cup Southern Drawl Chipotle Hot Sauce
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 tbsp lime juice
  • 2 tbsp honey (or brown sugar)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt

How to Make It

  1. Make the marinade: In a bowl, whisk together chipotle hot sauce, olive oil, lime juice, honey, garlic, cumin, smoked paprika, black pepper, and salt.
  2. Marinate the chicken: Place chicken in a resealable bag or shallow dish. Pour marinade over chicken, making sure it’s well coated. Marinate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 6 hours in the fridge.
  3. Preheat the grill: Preheat grill to medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grates to prevent sticking.
  4. Grill the chicken: Grill chicken for 6–7 minutes per side, or until internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and juices run clear. Let rest for 5 minutes.
  5. Slice & garnish: Slice chicken against the grain. Garnish with fresh cilantro and lime wedges.
  6. Serve & enjoy: Serve with rice, grilled veggies, tacos, salads, or your favorite Southern sides. Enjoy the bold, smoky heat!

Pro Tips

  • For extra smoky flavor, add a pinch of chipotle powder to the marinade.
  • Don’t skip the rest time — locks in juiciness!
  • This marinade also works great on shrimp, steak, or pork.
  • Use a meat thermometer for perfect results every time.
